Curiosities:
-Melanie said the crew didn't ask for permission to film in some places so she joked that they could be arrested anytime!

Filming: October, 2007
Album: This Time
Summary: The director of Melanie's latest three videos, Tim Royes, sadly died in a car accident in New York City on August 2007. Originally scheduled to be recorded in August, the filming of This Time video was cancelled due to the tragic happening. In such circumstances, it was important to Melanie to film the video with someone that knew Tim. The director Adrian Moat, Royes' former colleague was choosen to create this tribute to their friend. This Time shows Melanie following a ray of light, making allusion to life and death.
Curiosities:
-The version of the song used on the video isn't the album version: it's the single version.

Summary: In a pink neon lights scenary, Melanie dances and strikes poses, wearing a black catsuit. For the first time in her solo career, she has a choreographed dance routine with lots of dancers: men wearing helmets and women with colorful dresses. The sexiest video ever released by Melanie until now also has scenes of her laying on a red puff and close ups on her mouth with pink lipstick while singing the song.
Curiosities:
-The video was so successful on You Tube that in just one day it was viewed more than 82,000 times, charting in front of Beyoncé & Shakira's duet video, Beautiful Liar, uploaded on the site just one day before I Want Candy! Later, it charted at number 1 on the list of most viewed on March 4th, 2007, with more than 159,000 views in two days online!
-Melanie commented: "I don’t think I’m an overtly sexual performer. For this song I just wanted to step out of myself for that moment. It was fun to do it for a change, but I’m not changing my direction."
-During the filming, the catsuit had a couple of rips and needed to be fixed, according to Melanie!

Director: Tim Royes
Location: Ealing Studios, England
Filming: February 17th, 2007
Album: This Time
Summary: Melanie is in a place that reminds the backstage of a studio, with lots of elements of scenaries (lights, doors, cages, chains, a poster) and Melanie interacts with those objects while walking and singing. She seems to play with the lights during the video, feeling its power and deciding which ones to follow. Then she leaves the studio straight to the street. Pratically without close ups, the video has just one take and seems to be very simple, if it wasn't another video full of hidden messages from Melanie C!
Curiosities:
-Even though the video has only one take, six takes were necessary to get to the definitive version.
-It was shot the day after shooting the I Want Candy video.
-The lights and objects that appear in the scenes can be interpreted as metaphors for the song's lyrics or they can even represent phases of Melanie's career.

Year: 2006
Director: Robert Broellochs
Location: Mannheim, Germany
Filming: December 2005
Album: Beautiful Intentions
Summary: Melanie starts to sing Better Alone sitting by a lake. She plays a woman who rips a photo of her and her boyfriend and throws the pieces into the lake. The pieces appear sinking alongside with a car where her boyfriend lies unawake and locked inside. That makes the viewers believe that Melanie was committing a passionate crime. As the video goes on, the man wakes up very scared inside the car and tries to save himself, while Melanie is in surface playing with the car keys and a dog. Finally she decides to press the alarm button so the car doors open up, setting the man free at the bottom of the lake.
Curiosities:
-The video leaves behind the original theme Artist X Record Label of the song to adopt the popular Girlfriend X Boyfriend one. That makes it more accessible and interesting for the public eye in general.
-First Melanie C’s solo video in a short-movie style.

Filming: August 26th, 2005
Album: Beautiful Intentions
Summary: The video shows scenes of Melanie walking by the streets singing while many people are enjoying life with their friends and practicing sports.
Curiosities:
-It's the video for the song Melanie recorded especially to be the theme song of the German soap opera Julia Wege Zum Glück.
-The video gets the attention for having many situations that are also shown in Melanie’s previous videos: a man practicing Tai Chi reminds of Never Be The Same Again; men skating remind of Goin’ Down and Yeh Yeh Yeh; basketball players remind of On The Horizon; the sunset reminds of Here It Comes Again. In some scenes the shades of the image look like the ones used in Here It Comes Again. And also Melanie walking by the streets watching people could refer to Northern Star.
-It was Melanie's first video with an entire German crew.

Year: 2005
Director: Mary McCartney Donald
Location: Led Zeppelin’s old house in Sussex
Filming: May 2005
Album: Beautiful Intentions
Summary: Mel begins the video wearing a long dress and a jacket, in a dark environment lightened only by candles. In some shots she demonstrates fear and insecurity while walking by a room. Suddenly she takes off her jacket showing off a low-cut dress. Then she starts opening up the windows and a red curtain, letting the sun illuminates the entire room.
Curiosities:
-It was the first video directed by Paul and Linda MacCartney’s daughter, the photographer Mary.
-After leaving Virgin Records and putting together her own independent label Red Girl Records, the song Better Alone presented Melanie’s outburst about her feelings of freedom as an independent artist. So, some fans interpret the jacket she takes off during the video as being Virgin Records and the red curtains as Red Girl Records. That way, the video would be the illustration of this whole new process of freedom and finding new perspectives.

Year: 2005
Director: Ray Kay
Location: Studio in England
Filming: February 3rd and 4th, 2005
Album: Beautiful Intentions
Summary: Mel plays the superstar. She is sad at the backstage of her video, having her make up done and receiving orders from the director who adds people dancing and also the band as the video goes on. At the end, Mel goes away and leaves the band playing and the people dancing.
Curiosities:
-Melanie’s band members participate on the video: Vinnie, Paul, Kim, Arden and Greg.
-The video just like the song is a critic to new artists that show up every minute and are just playtoys of the music industry.
-The director used the fullscreen to represent the “backstage of a superstar video” scenes and also the widescreen to represent the “superstar’s video” scenes.
-The final scene when Mel leaves before the video ends but the band keeps playing shows the lack of importance that is given to the artists. Nowadays, the only things that matter are a perfect image and harmony between the elements on the screen...

Filming: September 2003

Summary: In black and white, Melanie interprets the song while several filming from her 2003 tour are shown. Melt is like a 2003 retrospective.
Curiosities:
-After Melanie had an accident at the TV show The Games and had surgery done in her knee, she decided to include this track as an A-side of the single Yeh Yeh Yeh. Therefore if she couldn’t sing standing up it would be easier to perform a slower song in order to promote the single without having to move so much during the performances.
-The accident happened only a few days from the release of the single Yeh Yeh Yeh. The single got postponed and with the decision to include Melt, the video had to be filmed in short time.

Summary: In an underground environment, a modern tribe sleeps during the day and only wakes up at sunset to listen to music throughout the night. Everyone has the same tattoo, a letter “C”. When the sun comes up, they go back to sleep.
Curiosities:
-That video was inspired by Melanie’s first solo video, Goin’ Down. Just like in Goin’ Down some people of the tribe are skaters and ride bikes.
-Although Melanie has 10 tattoos, the one of the “C” on her forearm is fake. It was done especially for the video.
-Melanie’s band members participate on the video: Fergus, Paul, Jenni, Sarah and Greg.
-The video was filmed at the director’s hometown.
-Ray Kay said about Mel: "Mel was fantastic and certainly the best performer I've ever worked with".

Location: Los Angeles/Vasquez Rock desert
Filming: December 2002
Album: Reason
Summary: The video begins with Melanie singing in downtown Los Angeles and ends at Vasquez Rock desert in California, where she and the extras are admiring the sunset. The main goal is to give a feeling of integration because all the extras run through Los Angeles just to watch the sunset in the desert together.
Curiosities:
-Melanie said in an interview that her crew found a dead body in the Californian desert during the filming of Here It Comes Again. Melanie had to wait inside the crew’s van until the place would get cleaned out.
-In some scenes singing in the desert Melanie is wearing a black shirt underneath the red jacket; in others she isn’t!
