Celine Dion plans a party for the Spice Girls:
Celine Dion is planning to hold a huge Canadian-themed party for the Spice Girls after their first reunion tour show in Vancouver.
The singer is so proud that the girl group have chosen her country to begin their tour that she wants to thank them by organising the hospitality, according to the Daily Star.
An insider said: “Celine is so thrilled the Spice Girls have chosen her home country to kick off their tour that she’s organising some plush hospitality to welcome them to Vancouver. Backstage at the The General Motors Place – the stadium where The Spice Girls will perform – Celine is arranging a huge soirée. There will be traditional maple syrup pancakes and the backstage area will even include actors dressed up in Moose outfits. There will be Canadian flags and red and white bunting decorating the area. As well as the Spices and their close friends and family, a string of high-profile Canadian sports stars are gearing up to attend. There will be chocolate fountains and Cristal Champagne all round and it’s bound to be a night to remember.”
It’s just a shame the Spice Girls will be on a booze-free diet.“It’ll be water all the way for them as they have to look after themselves while on tour and keep fighting fit.”

Russell, 32, said that all the five girls in the famous pop-band have their own unique qualities and he’s not quite sure if he’ll be able to match up to them if his raunchy ideas ever materialize.
“This is the beauty of the Spice Girls, they all have their own qualities. I’d try and sleep with all of them at once and I’m sure I’d fail miserably.”

From TheSpiceGirls.com:

"The Spice Girls had some surprise visitors at rehearsals in LA recently when Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes along with baby Suri stopped by to wish them luck for the forthcoming tour.

Tom and Katie enjoyed an impromptu audience with the girls and were treated to an exclusive performance, while Suri danced along to the music.

'David and I are great friends with Tom and Katie,' Victoria told us afterwards 'It was lovely of them to come down to rehearsals, a really nice surprise. Katie has told me before that she used to be a big Spice fan so it was great for her to meet the other girls.'"

Among many other updates, the site announces that the Greatest Hits reached platinum in the UK, selling more than 300.000 copies. A statement denying the cancelation of the Buenos Aires' concert is also in the site, the same one previously published by BBC. New pictures were also added, showing each girl's dressing room for the tour. And a new competition was launched. This time, the fans get the chance to choose the name of one of the airplanes that will fly the girls, among three options: Spice One, Spice Girl or Girl Power. Then, the participant must answer which single was the girls' first UK Christmas number one. A winner will be randomly picked and be taken to the US to meet the girls in the ceremony where the plane will be named, according to the results of the voting on the site. The competition will end on December 5th and the winner announced on the 6th.

SPICE GIRLS DENY BUENOS AIRES CANCELLATION
Posted on 25/11/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Spice Girls icon

From BBC:

The Spice Girls have denied cancelling a concert in Argentina, after a story appeared on several websites claiming they had.
A spokesman said an email sent to fans claiming they had scrapped the Buenos Aires concert due to high demand for their other dates was "fake".
The Spice Girls are due to play in the South American city as part of their reunion world tour.
They hope to schedule the gig for a date in February, the spokesman added.
Dates in Cape Town, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Sydney are also still to be finalised, according to the band's website.

'Unofficial'
In a statement, the Spice Girls' spokesman said: "The Spice Girls would like to make it clear that they have not cancelled their Buenos Aires show.
"A story has appeared on several websites that includes a fake email and competition from the girls. The fake email claims that due to the demand so far in the UK and the US this show is going to be cancelled.
"The email goes onto say that they will be running some competitions for their South American fans to travel to the UK to watch a show.
"This is not the case and this email is 100% unofficial and has nothing to do with the Spice Girls."
The Spice Girls will kick off their world tour on 2 December in Vancouver, moving on to San Jose, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and Boston; then across the Atlantic to play Manchester and 17 nights at the O2, in London.
At the end of January their tour takes them back to North America for gigs in Boston, Toronto and New York.

Perez Hilton also denied the cancellation, after posting it in his famous blog yesterday.

Spice Girls on You Tube:
The Spice Girls' official page on You Tube is being constantly updated with new videos. Now you can watch the parts 2 and 3 of the Spice Girls In Prague 1997, click HERE.

Giving You Everything - the official documentary:
According to Mirror.co.uk, the 90-minute Spice Girls: Giving You Everything documentary - which sees Geri, Victoria, Mel B, Emma and Mel C talk about the highs and lows of Spicemania - is turning into a storming show.
The old wounds could be reopened once they've all had a chance to air their grievances over the bullying, fights and rows that went on. A spy revealed:
"It's going to be explosive. Manager Simon Fuller is keen for a true account of the Spice Girls days - and we all know the truth can hurt. He's told the girls the editing will be very light and no topic is off limits. The eating disorders, the fisticuffs, the bitchiness - it will all be there.Geri in particular is keen to get a few things off her chest about how she felt she was bullied and pressured."

The Birth of the Spice Girls - the unofficial documentary:
There will be a new documentary called The Birth of the Spice Girls, which will feature rare and some supposedly previously unseen footage of the girls, including rehearsals filmed two years before Wannabe. The documentary is commissioned by Living, produced by Dai4 Films and Shiver, and will explore why the Spice Girls became a world-wide phenomenon. Clare Hollywood, Living's head of commissioning, said:
"The Spice Girls are simply the biggest girl band ever, so we are thrilled to have secured this rare and previously unseen footage. The show will be a fascinating sneak peak into the early years, before the PR machine and stylists had their way."
The documentary will air on December 2nd (no channel info) to coincide with the launch of the girls' reunion tour.

Spice Girls to perform at boxing match?
The Spice Girls are in negotiations to sing the national anthem to the Ricky Hatton vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match on December 8th in Las Vegas - the same night that they have a concert there. The camps are looking at the timing of their concert and the fight to see if something can be worked out. It has not been reported which national anthem they will be singing, the American one, or the English one (for their fellow countryman Ricky Hatton).

Alphabeat snub Spice Girls offer:
Danish pop group Alphabeat have refused to support the Spice Girls on the UK leg of their world tour because they do not like their music.
The European singers were asked by the five-piece to play a series of gigs at London's O2 Arena in January, but they decided against it after hearing the girls' tracks.
A source told The Sun: "They're (Alphabeat) not the biggest fans of the girls. It's not really how they want to launch in the U.K."
The Spice Girls have now decided not to have a support act during the London shows.

Desperate Housewives will attend Spice Girls' gig:
The "Desperate Housewives" cast will watch the Spice Girls' Los Angeles show.Victoria Beckham's friend Eva Longoria will be accompanied by her castmates - Teri Hatcher, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross - to see the reformed group when they perform at The Staples Centre on December 5. Eva said: "I'm definitely going to see the Spice Girls, and I'm bringing my 'Desperate Housewives' castmates with me."

RUMOURS ABOUT THE CANCELLATION OF THE BUENOS AIRES GIG
Posted on 24/11/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Spice Girls icon

The famous celebrity blog, Perez Hilton, published a supposed e-mail sent by the Spice Girls to the fans who registered for the Buenos Aires, Argentina, concert:

“Hi there!
First of all, we would like to thank all our fans who bought our Greatest Hist Album, it’s doing great!
As you know, the demand for our concert tickets in the USA and the UK has been really overwhelming. So, in order to meet that demand, it’s not possible for us to keep extending the tour because of our solo projects and family obligations. That means we are unable to hold a concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We’re incredibly sorry for the delay in making this annoucement, but we have been really trying to fit this date in our schedule.
To make this up for you all, we’ll be having some great competitions for our South American fans. The lucky winners will attend one of our London shows (flight and accomodation included!) and will receive an All Access Pass! Isn’t that MAJOR?
Keep checking thespicegirls.com for news on rehearsals and exclusive contents!
Best Wishes
Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C, and Victoria"

Until now the information in this e-mail isn't confirmed by the official website.

From Mirror.co.uk:

This is the first glimpse of the Spice Girls after their £2million makeover by legendary fashion guru Roberto Cavalli.
It's a long way from the streetwise Girl Power look they launched with 11 years ago.
Now Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie B, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham look sassy and sophisticated as well as sexy.
The Cavalli costumes include white and black tuxedos, silver space-age uniforms, shiny minidresses with crystals and feathers, sensual leather corsets and bright jumpsuits.
Speaking for the first time about the project, Roberto said: "I have known Victoria for a long time, and always admired her style and personality. At their debut, the Spice Girls generated a trend with their looks and now they have put their trust in me to get a new, unique and iconic appeal for the tour.
"When I met them, I understood why the world went crazy for their unique brand of girl power. They are an irresistible mix of energy, joy, humour and a dash of glamour. I'm sure their strength will take us by storm again."

  MELANIE UPDATES THE SPICE BLOG
Posted on 20/11/2007 by Anna Marina
Spice Girls icon

The blog from Spice Girl's official site was updated today by Melanie C, talking about the rehearsals, the performances and the nerves:

"Whoop whoop whoop! Wassuuup?!

Listen to me going all LA! You are not going to believe it, the show is going to be phenomenal!

Things are getting really exciting now as we get closer to the first gig. We've started running the show and after this tour I reckon we'll all be fit enough to run a marathon. It's hardcore, even for Sporty Spice!

Last week we performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. It went brilliantly and was well scary. It was the first time we'd performed together since 1998! The response was overwhelming.

The crowd were cheering so loudly when we came on stage, I had to hold back the tears. My legs went all stiff and at one point if I hadn't been standing next to Emma I would've fallen over! Not a good look.

We had loads of fun in our 1940s army outfits and vintage Cavalli for Headlines (Friendship Never Ends). Did you see my hat? I wore it for BBC Children In Need too!

Lovely Seal was there – he sang with his missus, Heidi Klum. The models were gorgeous and Will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas also performed. So, it was a really top night.

At the crack of dawn the next day we were up to chat with our Terry (Wogan) for BBC Children In Need. It was weird watching the show from Melanie's Dancing With The Stars set. We all felt a little homesick.

Melanie is still doing an amazing job on Dancing With The Stars; we surprised her with a little visit. She truly is a superwoman and we are very, very proud.

Thank you to everybody who's bought the single, it's for a great cause.

Take care and be lucky

Love

Melanie C"

Tesco Adverts:
Tesco's website now has a special page for the Spice Girls's Christmas adverts. The first advert "Secret Santa" is the one being aired at the moment on British TV, showing the girls shopping for presents for each other whilst desperately trying not to be spotted by their band-mates. On Monday December 3rd, the second advert "Perfect Christmas" will start to be aired featuring the girls at home debating their favourite Christmas meal.

Headlines at Billboard Hot 100:
Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) debuted on the US chart Billboard at number 90.

Victoria's Secret and Children In Need songs:
According to the Norwegian newspaper Side2, the Spice Girls will perform Say You'll Be There besides Headlines at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show today. And according to Victoria Beckham's blog on the Spice Girls official website, the girls will perform Headlines and Stop directly from Los Angeles for BBC Children In Need show tomorrow.

Kylie Minogue talks about the Spice Girls:
In interview for this month's Attitude magazine, the singer Kylie Minogue talked about the Spice Girls:
-You played Spice Up Your Life at Boombox. Is it right for the Spice Girls to be reforming?
[Laughs] Er, who knows? It's hard to imagine but I think that when the moment comes everyone will get a little touch of Spice Fever. Who can resist that really?

Headlines and Greatest Hits Midweek positions:
Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) is on number 26 in the midweek charts from the UK. The Greatest Hits albums is in number 2. The official positions will be announced on Sunday.

Leona Lewis talks about the Spice Girls:

Leona Lewis, winner of the musical reality show X Factor and rival of the Spice Girls on the albums chart (she's releasing her album Spirit on the same week as Spice Girls' Greatest Hits album), talked about the girls: "I loved them when I was growing up and still do. Wannabe is my favourite song. I think there’s enough room for bands like the Spice Girls and singers from The X Factor."

Boyzone about the Spice Girls reunion:
From The Sun:
Boyzone are convinced the Spice Girls camp nicked their secret ideas for their comeback.
The lads make their first appearance on Children In Need on Friday night.
And, coincidentally, the Spice Girls will do a live link-up from LA on the same show.
Ronan said: “We’ve been trying to find the right moment to do this for a long time — before Take That considered it, before The Police were ever considering it. I remember in one of our meetings last year we were thinking, ‘Well, the Spice Girls aren’t gonna do it cos two girls are pregnant.’ We never expected them to come back. There were quite a lot of people at the meeting and a lot of things we talked about I felt were leaked. A lot of what the Spice Girls did was what we’d talked about. So maybe there was someone in the room that spread the word. I don’t know. It looks like Take That and the Spice Girls did it and we’re trying to jump on the bandwagon. But it’s not like that.”

George Ergatoudis, Head of Music at Radio 1, says: "The opinion of the Radio 1 playlist team is that the song isn't strong enough. Clearly there's a huge number of Spice Girls fans out there, look at the tickets they have sold. But 'Headlines' is very disappointing. The song simply isn't strong enough. It would have been a B-side in their heyday."

Gordon Ramsay to prepare Spice menus:
British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who is friends with Victoria, will be preparing menus of food which comply to all the girls' requirements for when the girls are on tour. A source says: "Victoria and Gordon were larking around with the other Spice Girls and suddenly Mel B joked that Ramsay should step in and sort out their catering options. There had been a few minor disagreements in the band about the type of food the girls wanted. And while Gordon told them he couldn't personally cook for them on a daily basis because of other commitments, he did kindly offer to devise an array of menus suited to their individual requirements, which will be produced on a daily basis by top-notch chefs. He has given it a lot of thought. After all, the Spice Girls are into their own things. Victoria loves simple cuisine, like prawns, Mel B is more of a pasta girl and Mel C likes her veg. Geri is into wholesome organic produce but has several food intolerances while Emma is pretty much into eating anything as long as it is relatively low fat and fresh. So Gordon is creating a menu which combines all of their requirements and he is making sure it is fun while being extremely balanced and nutritious."

Sophie Ellis-Bextor criticizes Headlines video:
British Pop Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who has been Victoria Beckham's rival on the charts in the past, said the following of the Spice Girls' new video: "I don't like the video. I don't understand why they're singing in their underwear when they're talking about friendship. It's all about context. I've done advertisements for Monsoon and spreads for men's magazines but they are supposed to be singing about being friends. Why do they have to be in their bra and pants to do that?"

Album on sale Sunday:
From Music Week:
"EMI is to overlooking the usual retail traditions and put The Spice Girls Greatest Hits album on sale this Sunday.
The move, one day before traditional new releases are made available, gives the album an extra day of sales on the charts. It also follows the group’s unique partnership with Victoria Secrets - the US lingerie chain stocked the album.
Some key releases have previously plumped for different days of the week to create a buzz and a spokeswoman for EMI says putting the Spice Girls album on sale November 11 makes sense because the album has terrific 'high awareness'.
She adds, 'A lot of people are out shopping on a Sunday, especially around Christmas.'"

Hello Magazine reported that the Spice Girls have been invited to the Royal Variety Performance to perform in front of the Queen of England, among others. The Royal Variety Performance takes place on December 3rd, the day after the first date (Vancouver, Canada) of The Spice Girls' world tour, which would make it a bit challenging for the girls to make the variety show. An organizer for the Variety performance says: "We've been having talks with them. They are keen, but it's a question of making it work physically."

Melanie C threatens to quit the Spice Girls:
From Contact Music:
"Pop star Melanie Chisholm has threatened to quit the Spice Girls - if her bandmates behave outrageously on their forthcoming world tour. The singer - who has previously dubbed herself 'Reluctant Spice' because she was the last to agree to a reunion - is keen to avoid the tantrums and tour demands the girls are already rumoured to be making. And the 33-year-old isn't afraid to quit the Wannabe group if the girls' behaviour gets out of hand. She says, 'If it goes into a diva drama, I'm out of the circus.' The reformed group will kick off their world tour on 2 December in Vancouver, Canada."

Carrie Grant about Melanie:
In a recent interview, Melanie's vocal coach Carrie Grant, talked about Mel and the Spice Girls:
-Which Stars did you enjoy working with most?
Carrie: Spice Girl Melanie C, she's got talent and strength and she's interested in improving
-Who do you most want to work with?
Carrie: The rest of the Spice Girls. It's brilliant they're reforming. They'll probably be rusty and nervous, so it'll be interesting to see how they cope. Victoria can sing, but she could be a lot better if she had lessons.
