SPICE GIRLS - FACTS & RUMOURS

Donatella Versace to design Spice outfits:
According to The Mirror, Donatella Versace will be designing
the Spice Girls' outfits for their comeback tour.
An insider said: "Donatella was a big fan of the girls back
in the day and as soon as she heard that a reunion was on
the cards she submitted her ideas. There will be several
different 'looks' for each of them and the clothes will
be worth over £200,000. She wants the girls to retain
their band personas but in a much less obvious way than
before. Mel C won't be wearing ill-fitting sportswear -
instead she'll have a really sexy wardrobe. Emma Bunton
will wear stunning, elegant dresses with a playful touch.
Donatella thinks they look better than many bands half their
age and should show that off."
Army of helpers for the Spice Girls:
Also according to The
Mirror, the Spice Girls are each insisting on a personal
team of helpers for their reunion tour.
They will take 10 hair stylists and make-up artists, plus
fitness trainers and nutrition experts. There will also
be personal assistants, managers and security guards. Not
to mention child minders, relatives and friends.
An insider said: "There's so much competition between the
girls. They all want to look their best so each of them
brought in their own separate team. It's hilarious - and
completely over the top. Why can't they just share like
in the old days?"
Victoria, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Mel C all
brought their own teams to style them for the promotional
shoot.
The source added: "It's a far cry from the old days when
they had one make-up artist and a hairdresser between them."
But a band spokesman insisted: "It's normal for each girl
to have a team."
And Geri said the tour would be a family affair: "We are
like the Waltons. We are taking all seven children, one
husband, a few boy friends, five women and all their stuff."
Melanie C to choose the band:
Victoria recently said to The
Sun: "I’ve been calling her [Geri] Brilliant
Spice because she has been so great at sorting everything
out. Melanie C will be in charge of choosing our band, and
I’m sure I’ll have something to do with our
costumes."
Westlife VS Spice again:
People's
website published that Westlife will re-ignite their
old battle with the Spice Girls by releasing a
new album on the same day.
The Irish lads are already recording studio tracks.
And a source said: "They've pencilled in a release date
for later this year but will move it depending on what the
girls do. They think it will be a good marketing ploy to
recreate the great battle of 2000 and are sure they will
get the No.1 spot." Westlife's Coast to Coast easily outsold
the Spices' Forever seven years ago.

Germany:
Carolyna is at number 35 in the most selling singles chart
and at number 19 in the most downloaded songs chart. This
Time is still out of the top 100.
Switzerland:
Carolyna climbed 10 places to number 31 in the chart of
the most played songs on the radios.
Portugal:
The Moment You Believe is the 10th most played song on the
radio (on the last 6 months), climbing 5 positions.

2003, Melanie let the singer Holly Vallance record the song
Help Me Help You for the album Footprints (we even have
the lyrics in our Lyrics
- Other - Solo section). Melanie wrote it with Phil
Thornalley and Dave Munday for the Reason album
and ended up not releasing this song.
Today, 4 years later, Melanie's studio version has finally

MEL WOULD LIKE TO TRY AN ACTING CAREER
|
The artist came to Portugal to take part in an episode
of the TVI's teen soap opera, Morangos com Açúcar IV - Férias
de Verão, as a guest in the Xa-Vi-Bar.
Melanie C said to Diário de Notícias that "it's a pleasure
to take part of a soap opera in Portugal". "Last
year two of my songs were used, Better Alone and First Day
Of My Life in another two series, what makes me feel very
lucky as I know that more people has the opportunity to
listen to my music," she said.
The ex-Spice Girl only needed three takes for the director
to find that the recordings have the quality required. It
was 2:35 pm when the singer arrived on the set and at 3:15
pm everything was done.
Melanie C has confessed that she considers the idea of becoming
an actress: "Everybody dreams to be a movie star but I have
always worked a lot in my musical career and I think this
is where I should put my energy in but, if the opportunity
appears, I would like to try," said the singer.
About the Spice Girls' tour she said: "We have had lots
of requests to perform. We've started with 11 concerts and
now we already have 24 dates." "I had always thought that
we would never come back to sing together but the time is
now," commented Melanie C, who says that this is the last
reunion of the group: "We never gave our fans a proper goodbye
and this reunion is our goodbye. Because we all have really
busy lives."

OLHÃO - THE "FESTIVAL DE MARISCO"
|
Melanie
C announced yesterday her comeback to Portugal: "I'm leaving
tomorrow [today] to attend to a wedding on the weekend. But
it's for a short time! I'll be back on 15th August to perform
at Olhão", confirmed. The ex-Spice Girl will be closing the
Festival de Marisco de Olhão, in Algarve, from 10th to 15th
of August.
Considered one of the biggest gastronomic events of the Algarve
region, this festival has amazing sea dishes prepared for
the audience.
Mel has also said: "I'm very happy with my solo career. I
feel very pleased and I want to go on after recording the
Spice Girls' new album ['The Greatest Hits'], that will be
out on Christmas."
The singer anticipates that after the recording of the next
album, reuniting the greatest hits of the famous girlband,
"the Spice Girls will not stay together, because they all
have their lives, families and kids". Melanie C added: "I
had never thought that we would be back together and
I feel proud for the Spice Girls."

Melanie will also rehearse with the band between the trips.
And according to the fans, Melanie said today in Portugal,
that the Spice Girls tour will have 24 dates, which means
13 extra dates from what was previously announced.

INTERVIEW TO THE COTONETE WEBSITE

Today Melanie gave an interview to the Portuguese website
Cotonete
and talked about This Time and the Spice Girls reunion:
"When asked if I would like to do it [the Spice
Girls reunion] I had always denied until this year. We're
going to release the Greatest Hits on Christmas. (...) The
girls talked to me and asked if I would like to do it (...)
to thank the fans. (...) It will be only for two months,
I think it will be really nice. (...) I'd love to play here
with them," revealed the singer of 'Better Alone'.
Melanie also talked about how she loves Portugal and that
she intends to come back in September, to do some live shows.
"I still don't know all the details but I know that I'll
come back to Portugal in September. I have already seen
Portugal in my agenda," said the singer with a smile in
her face.

THE POP ART OF PETER BLAKE
|
In 1917 Marcel Duchamp placed a urinal, signed "R Mutt",
in an exhibition in New York. This simple gesture henceforth,
gave artists the freedom to determine what objects could
be defined as "art".
This year, in his exhibition from 19th June to 23rd September
in Liverpool's Tate gallery, the English artist Peter Blake
shows one of his most recent series of paintings, The Marcel
Duchamp World Tour, that was conceived as a way of thanking
Duchamp for this act.
Blake says: “I decided to send him on a posthumous
world tour where he would travel the world forever in a
big rock ’n’ roll tour bus, being very comfortable.
He meets people along the way and people come and go on
the bus and he goes to various happenings.”
In one of the bilds of this serie, Duchamp meets the Spice
Girls and Elvis, while riding in his tour bus:
Peter Blake is famous for his works of pop art. In 2003 he
updated the legendary collage from the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band CD cover, replacing the icons from
the 20th century by several newest and more intimally related
to Liverpool figures, among them, Melanie C.

NOTES - RANA NOY & KAISER CHIEFS

Rana Roy on DanceX:
Rana Roy, dancer in the video of I Want Candy, is taking
part of the dance competition reality show, DanceX produced by BBC1.
She revealed that her inspiration to dance comes from Melanie
C, and that she got thrilled to get a chance to pick up
tips from her favourite singer during the making of I Want
Candy: "Mel was really nice. I've always been a fan so it
was great to work with her," Rana told The People. "Seeing
just how talented Mel is proved to be a massive inspiration
for me. It was so surreal to finally be dancing for one
of my childhood heroes. It made me so happy."
"Mel was much better than I thought she'd be. It really
felt like the start of my future. I've always been nicknamed
'Mel B' by my friends because of my hair and there I was
dancing alongside Sporty Spice. Now I want to use everything
I learned with Mel to help me find success on DanceX."
Advices for Kaiser Chiefs:
The Kaiser Chiefs' keyboardist, Peanut, recently commented
about an advice given by Mel: "Mel C told us how they
[Spice Girls] dealt with their fame in the U.S. It was useful
to hear. They were always in danger of being mobbed so they'd
jump on their tour bus to travel a couple of meters to their
private jet instead of walking."

JAMMIN' ON RADIO 2
|
Melanie recorded the radio show Jammin' on Radio 2 on July
20th. The show was a kind of musical game
in which she sang snippets of songs like 'I Wish', 'This
Time', 'The Greatest Love Of All', 'Frere Jacques', 'Never
Be The Same Again', 'Never Order Daal Again', 'You'll Never
Walk Alone', 'Like A Prayer' and 'Crouton the Water'. At one
point, the host made lots of jibes at her and even implied
that nobody bought her music, what didn't let Melanie
very pleased.

Duet with Girls Aloud:
In an interview for the website The
Champion, Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh said that
a duet with the Spice Girls would be interesting and funny.
She also said that the Girls Aloud don't feel threatened
by the Spice Girls' comeback, and that it will be fun to
see them together again.
Denying rumours:
Victoria was interviewed by Kiss FM radio and denied
that the Spice Girls would travel on separate jets and be
accompanied by a therapist during the tour.
Venue in Buenos Aires:
According to Argentinian Rolling
Stone magazine, the Spice Girls concert will take
place at River Plate's stadium.
Royal Variety Show:
The newspaper Daily Star reported that the Spice
Girls could perform at the TV special Royal Variety in Liverpool,
on December 3rd, right before starting off the tour, on
the 4th.

Germany:

Portugal:
The Moment You Believe is the 5th most played songs on the
Portuguese radios for the second week.
Switzerland:
Carolyna entered in number 66 and The Moment You Believe dropped
8 places to number 80 in the most selling singles chart. This
Time climbed 1 position to number 69.
Poland:
The Moment You Believe climbed 24 positions to number 14 in

Possible gig in Brazil:
According to The
Sun, the Spice Girls will announce more dates on the
World Tour next week - including Brazil.
A source said: “The Spice Girls will make a big announcement
next week. Everybody in the Spice camp has been bombarded
by Brazilian fans demanding the band bring Girl Power to
Brazil. Doing Buenos Aires and not Rio would be a massive
faux pas. One of the dates is definitely going to be Brazil.”
Denying Girls Aloud:
The information about Emma and Geri wanting the girlband
Girls Aloud as the support act of the tour seems to be made
up by members of messageboards about pop music, as the news
aren't even on MTV's website, the supposed source.

CHILDREN IN NEED + TATTOOS + GIRLS ALOUD + JETS

Children In Need:
BBC's
website has confirmed that the Spice Girls will take
part of this year's Children In Need performing a new song
on November 16th.
Controller of BBC One Peter Fincham said: "They are all
keen to get involved with Children In Need. They are recording
two new songs and one of them might be a single."
Children In Need is an annual appeal organised by BBC to
raise money for charities working with children in
the UK.
Last year's Children In Need single was recorded by Emma
Bunton - a cover of the song Downtown.
The 90 minutes documentary about the Spice Girls will also
be shown by BBC later this year.
Matching tattoos:
According to FemaleFirst,
the Spice Girls want to get identical tattoos as a
symbol of how much they mean to each other.
Victoria is said to have asked renowned tattooist Louis
Molloy to create a circle comprising of the girls' names
to symbolise their complete journey together as friends.
A source said: "The girls are all really keen to mark the
momentous occasion, the only slight problem is that Mel
C had sworn she would never have another tattoo. She's waiting
to check out the final design before she decides. And Victoria
sees the tattoos as powerful reminders. When it happens
she will throw a huge party. They'll be pampered to death."
Girls Aloud as the support act:
MTV reported that Emma and Geri want the British
girlband Girls Aloud to join them as the support act of
the World Tour. Geri said: "It would be good to have Girls
Aloud or some other success girl band as our support act
because they would then continue girl power! We also want
our support acts to stay with us throughout the tour, coming
to America and China with us!"
Girls Aloud formed in 2002 and have since gone on to become
Britains most successful female band since the Spice Girls.
Some days ago Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud declared that
"the whole Spice Girls reunion might be a bit sad, as they
are well into their 30s."
Private Jets:
Rumours are that the record label Virgin will get
five Lear jets to carry each of the girls, their seven children
and nannies throughout the World Tour.
Simon Fuller would be taking no chances in case of the old
rivalry should spill over again, according to News.com.au.

Stop re-entered in the charts this week in number 78 with
the campaign Stop To The Top organised by fans.
Therapist for tour:
According to the DigitalSpy,
the Spice Girls will be accompanied by a therapist for the
duration of their reunion tour.
Executives at record label Virgin are concerned that arguments
between the singers could result in one of them deciding
to pull out.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "This tour will be
massive and record bosses do not want anything getting in
the way - least of all the girls themselves. They want Girl
Power to come back in style, not end in arguments between
the girls. So taking a therapist along to smooth out any
problems makes sense. The therapist will be available any
time the girls need someone to talk to so that any disagreements
do not get out of hand. It would be a disaster if any of
them walked out mid-way through the tour."
Rehearsals in L.A.:
Rumours are that Victoria wants the girls to rehearsal in
Los Angeles as she's living there as well as Mel B. So Emma,
Melanie C and Geri would have to spend sometime in America
for the rehearsals.
New songs:
According to Entertainment Weekly the girls are recording
new material and already have four or five songs that can
be included on the Greatest Hits album.

Carolyna climbed 10 places to number 49 in the most selling
singles charts from Austria.
Spain:
The Moment You Believe climbed 5 places to number 10 in the
most selling singles chart from Spain.
Germany:
Carolyna is the 33rd most selling single and the song is the
4th most played on the radios!
Portugal:
The Moment You Believe is the 5th most played song
on the Portuguese radios and it's the number 1 of
the digital chart (downloads of music and ringtones for mobiles)!
Poland:
The Moment You Believe climbed 17 positions to number
38 in the singles and airplays chart.

game three kids answer some questions over the telephone

NEW SONG + NEW SINGLE + PRO7 TRAILER

We Love To Entertain You
Melanie is honoured to have been asked to write and perform
the trailer music for this year's Pro7 Starforce campaign
in Germany. Last year's song was written and performed by
Take That.
Melanie's guitarist, Greg Hatwell, came up with an initial
idea and he and Melanie finished writing the song together
in June. The band went into the studio to record their parts
at the end of the last month and Melanie recorded her vocals
on July 1st, after a busy days...
On Wednesday, 4th July, Melanie and the band flew to Salzburg
in Austria to film the trailers. Filmed in an incredible
glass aircraft hangar, they were surrounded by Lear jets,
racing cars and motorbikes.
Next Thursday, 12th July, Melanie and the band will be in
Dusseldorf performing the song at the Big Picture Show,
a private event for Pro7, Sat 1 television and the German
media. The trailer campaign is due to start airing on German
TV in early October.
The track will feature on the b-side of Melanie's next single...
Details to be announced in the coming weeks. We hope to
be able to bring you some photos from the trailer filming
next week so keep checking back!

Melanie was very happy to take part in a press conference
and photo shoot last week to announce the Return of the Spice

in a World Tour throughout December 2007 and January 2008,

This is the week of the Stop To The Top campaign, organised
by Spice Girls fans aiming to put the song Stop at the number
1 spot of the British chart, 9 years after the single's
release.
Stop was the only single of the group's career that didn't
reach the number 1 spot in the British chart when it was
released on March 9th, 1998, staying at number 2 behind
the single "It's Like That" by Run DMC.
To help the campaign all you need to do is:

fights in the Spice World now the girls are back together.
According to the article, Mel B was acting with a diva behaviour
before the press conference, Geri was trying to grab the limelight
