Release date on HMV:
The virtual shop HMV updated the Greatest Hits album page with the cover and the release date on November 5th, check HERE.

Dancers auditions + tour director:
Rumours are that the auditions for dancers of the tour are already happening in Los Angeles and that the tour director will be Jamie King, who worked on the last three Madonna's tours: Drowned World Tour 2001, Re-Invention Tour 2004 and The Confessions Tour 2006.

[Crazy things from the press] Spice Girls fear that Mel will leave the band:
From People.co.uk:
The spice Girls' reunion tour could face a crisis - amid fears Mel C is on the verge of pulling out.
Sporty is desperate to keep her solo career alive and wants enough time to work on her own projects.
A possible contingency plan has even been drawn up for their December tour in case only Mel B, Victoria Beckham Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell take part.
An insider revealed: "Mel C still wants to be seen as a solo singer and she's told pals she's tired of being ordered around. Things are so tense she hasn't even spoken to Mel B, Victoria, or Geri since June."
And her decision to release solo material weeks before the Spices' own single shows how defiant she is.
Mel, 33, originally suggested she'd put her solo work on hold until after the tour.
But she releases This Time on October 12, a month before The Spices' single Woman.
The source said: "It's an obvious sign of where her priorities lie because she'll need to promote her own single and have less time for the group. Management are treating her feelings like gold-dust to salvage things. But they are also planning to make sure the tour goes ahead even if she pulls out."
But a spokesman for the Spice Girls said: "The girls are in regular touch, they are all getting on great and very much looking forward to the tour."

SPICE GIRLS - FACTS & RUMOURS

Editions of the Greatest Hits album:
The virtual shop www.fan.pl, a reliable source according to the Polish fans, brought information about three different editions of the Greatest Hits album: only the CD, CD+DVD and CD+2DVDs.

Singer Shaggy speaks about the Spice Girls:
The reggae singer Shaggy spoke to The Sun about the Spice Girls:  "I think Victoria just feels like she has some broke friends and wants to help them out. When she married David Beckham she made a great career choice. I take my hat off to her, but I'm not looking forward to the shows."

Spice Girls on X-Factor:
Some days ago the judge of the music reality show X-Factor, Louis Walsh, slammed the Spice Girls on Star magazine by saying: “Those girls are not talented. One’s just a wife of a footballer and the others are not on the radar. They’re well past their sell-by date. Girls Aloud are the top girl group in the world right now. The Spice Girls are very lucky and very overrated. None of them can sing and their music is not half as good as Girls Aloud’s. Girls Aloud are also better looking. I’ll give them [Girls Aloud] another year. They’ll do this album and you never know. Nadine from Girls Aloud could definitely go solo – she is the one with the talent and will have a successful solo career. None of the Spice Gils could do that.”
But according to TheSun, Simon Cowell, the X-Factor boss, is desperate to get the Spice Girls on the first live X Factor show in October. A source said: "Simon was furious with Louis for slaughtering the Spice Girls. He really wants them to do a masterclass on one of the X Factor live shows and now fears Louis has blown it. He gave him [Louis] a bollocking and told him to keep his mouth shut. The Spice Girls are the biggest act in Britain right now. Their reunion tour is in hot demand so getting them on the X Factor would be a real coup and a ratings winner. The girls and their management company, 19, haven’t said yes or no yet. Simon is going to have to do a lot more grovelling to make it happen.”

PRECIOUS JEWELS ON THE SPICE GIRLS COVER
Posted on 21/08/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Spice Girls icon

From TheSun:

Grab your shades before you set your eyes on this bling-tastic cover of the Spice Girls' greatest hits album.

The artwork is a copy of their debut album Spice. But this time £1million-worth of precious jewels were used to create the letters.

In the work by top jewellery designer David Morris, each letter symbolises one of the Spice Girls, as it did in their debut cover.

The S is made from amber and represents Victoria Beckham. The ruby pink P is Baby Emma Bunton.

Mel C’s letter I is made from a diamond; Geri Halliwell  is the C, made from sapphire stones; and the emerald E is Mel B.

The girls have always loved jewels. When they started out, Geri bought all her bandmates cheapo gold rings. She replaced them with more expensive ones when they were no longer Wannabes.

And their manager, Simon Fuller, gave the girls expensive necklaces when they announced their comeback.

A source said: “The album cover is a nice touch. They wanted something simple and stylish and it’s probably one of the most expensive album covers ever made.”

Sadly, the bling doesn’t come free with the version you’ll find in the shops.

  MELANIE BANS ALCOHOL ON TOUR
Posted on 20/08/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Spice Girls icon

From FemaleFirst:

Mel C is imposing an alcohol ban on the Spice Girls for their upcoming world tour.

The singer is determined to make sure she and her four bandmates - Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham - are in top condition when they hit the road again in December and is going to introduce a number of healthy rules.

Mel, also known as Sporty Spice, told Sunday magazine: "Going on tour is like getting married. You have to look your best and prepare by exercising three to five times a week.

"If we're touring and doing show after show, we have to really look after ourselves. We might occasionally have a few drinks in the dressing room, but we can't really do that.

"I'm sure most of the time we'll be back in our hotel rooms, relaxing in the bath, because we can't go out and play!"

As well as limiting the girls' alcohol consumption, Mel is also going to make sure the group get an early night before each show and eat the right foods.

She added: "We'll be going to bed by 10.30am. When you have a show, the night before has to be an early one.

"You should eat about four hours before so you're not hungry when you go on stage and have the energy needed to perform. I also recommend avoiding dairy because it can affect your voice."

The Spice Girls - who announced they were reforming in June - are to play 15 shows, taking place in five continents.

The tour begins in Vancouver, Canada, in December, and rumours are rife the band are planning to add extra dates.

SPICE GIRLS VS BRITNEY SPEARS AT FASHION ROCKS
Posted on 10/08/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Spice Girls icon

From Mirror:

We wouldn't want to get into a fight with Britney Spears ... so those Spice Girls are brave ladies.

The girls are battling it out to open the Fashion Rocks concert at London's Royal Albert Hall, one of the biggest events in the music and fashion industry.

The Spices have set their hearts on making their long-awaited comeback at the extravaganza in October which is being hosted by Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

But organisers desperately want Britney to open the concert, her first official appearance since her troubles.

They have asked Britney to perform, but her record label are worried her songs aren't strong enough and have yet to decide.

Nicki Chapman - who works as the Spice Girls' manager with Simon Fuller - has put in several calls to the show's organisers to try and get the Girls on the line-up which already includes Kasabian, Alicia Keys and Beth Ditto.

A source tells us: "People around the Spice Girls think it's the perfect place for their first gig in years. They're keeping their fingers crossed, but they know there are some big names in the mix." Whoever gets the chance to perform at the event will certainly sparkle on the night.

The outfits for the show will be encrusted with Swarovski crystals because the company is sponsoring the event.

A string of big fashion names have confirmed their attendance, so the costumes are likely to be created by a top designer.

Victoria Beckham has had her eye on the event for nearly a year - well before the girls had decided on their comeback.

She wanted to host the event with husband David Beckham and was rumoured to have had talks with Big Time Productions, who organise the event.

The glam do - on October 18 - is held every two years to raise money for the Prince's Trust.

In June Victoria, 33, Geri Halliwell, 35, Emma Bunton, 31, Melanie Brown, 32, and Melanie Chisholm, 33, announced they were reuniting for a one-off world tour.

Demand for tickets was so high - three million registered in three months - that they added more dates to the tour and will perform 14 concerts - in London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Vancouver, Cologne, Madrid, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, and San Jose.

The girls are a far more reliable option than Britney who has been plagued with troubles this year, which culminated in her checking into rehab.

FURIOUS MELANIE - SIMON WANTS SINGING LESSONS
Posted on 07/08/2007 by Luisa Damulakis
Rumours icon

From Closer Magazine:

Their comeback tour has been plagued by rumours of arguments and jealousy, and now a new row has broken out between the Spice Girls - over singing lessons.

The girls, who sold 55 million albums before they split, have been ordered to have vocal coaching to tune up for their world tour, which kicks off in December.

But sources close to the band have revealed that Mel C has hit out at the order - given by manager Simon Fuller - telling him: "I don't need lessons. I can sing, thank you very much."

A Spice source told Closer: "The girls have been told by Simon that they need to get their voices back in training and should start having singing lessons as soon as possible."

"But Mel C is furious, as she thinks her voice is already in great shape. Simon thinks she needs to re-familiarise herself with the lyrics and the pop style to make the comeback work."

"Mel feels really insulted but Simon has insisted on it. They are all going to have vocal coaching, because they have lost the art of singing in harmony."

The souce added: "The rest of the band are fine with getting some voice coaching and can't understand why Mel is kicking off about it."

When the girls first got together in the mid-'90s, their original manager Chris Herbert hired vocal coach Pepi Lemer to help lead the girls to success.

Let's hope the lessons will pay off again!

  MELANIE TALKS ABOUT TORONTO

From Sun Media Entertainment:

Toronto must really, really want the Spice Girls, because yesterday it won a worldwide online contest to be the one "Spice City" added to this winter's Spice Girls' reunion tour.

"It was all down to the numbers," Melanie Chisholm (a.k.a. Mel C) said in an exclusive telephone interview yesterday with Sun Media.

So when's the show? And where? And how to get tickets?

The band revealed none of that info yesterday, other than to say the Toronto concert will be scheduled for some time in January. But judging by the Spice Girls' January tour itinerary, it would appear their only window of opportunity to play anywhere in North America that month would be in the first or last weeks, as the Girls wind their way from China, to Australia, to Africa, to South America from Jan. 8-24.

The "Spice City Initiative" was set up by the reunited pop superstars to give their "genuine fans" the world over the chance to have a concert in their city, by voting on the Spice Girls' official website.

Runner-up cities to Toronto in the fan voting included Rio (Brazil), Chicago (U.S.), Paris (France), Melbourne (Australia), Manchester (England) and Baghdad (Iraq).

"(Toronto) just narrowly beat Manchester, and I'm from Liverpool, which is quite close," Chisholm said. "I'd have been happy with Manchester, which is near all my family," she said. "But I love Toronto and I also have family (near) there too. I have my uncle and auntie and two cousins in Windsor.

"Canada has always been such an amazing market for us, so it's only fitting that we play two shows there."

The Brit band comprises Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie "Mel B" Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice). The vocalists had a slew of hit singles and albums from 1994-2001 before splintering into largely unsuccessful solo acts.

The tour, which begins Dec. 2 in Vancouver (the only other Canadian date), originally was to make only 10 stops around the world. Toronto's addition raises the number to 15.

From TheSpiceGirls.com:

YOUR SPICE CITY

Hi Everyone

We’re really amazed by the fantastic response to our “Spice City” competition. Thanks to everyone who took the time to get involved.

We set this up to give all our genuine fans the chance to turn their hometown into a SPICE CITY. This was all about making your own city a SPICE CITY and since we launched there have been literally millions of votes for us to play in hundreds of cities including places like Rio, Chicago, Melbourne, Manchester, Paris, Alice Springs, Baghdad, and Diss (in Norfolk England)!

But one city had to win and we are now delighted to announce the winner is... TORONTO. Thanks to everyone in Canada who voted for us to play there - we’ll work out the date over the next few weeks and let you know.

If your city wasn’t the winner this time, then keep checking back to this site and register for updates. Who knows what might happen next?

Lots of love

Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C, Victoria
